This is a Post-impressionism and Cloisonnism inspired still life. Looking and exploring different styles and techniques that I have not tried before. Very much inspired by Paul Cezanne and Vanessa Bell. This was a completely made up still life, this is an imaginative composition as this was not my main focus with this painting. I wanted to create it this way to enable me to be more free with my application of paint and in the style generally as I tend to get too bogged down with detail if I'm painting from an image or display. Restrictions did not apply. This painting was aimed to focus mainly on form, and colour, I did not care for accuracy. I used larger brush strokes and layered the paint on more thickly this style enabled me to be able to complete the painting quicker and gifted me freedom that I enjoyed.

I am a freelance artist. My contact email is sukhiart@yahoo.com I do commissions and I sell my work on eBay. I'm always creating things which I will share on here. I am primarily a painter, I paint mainly in oils, and as for subject I tend not to restrict myself. I also venture down the decorative arts, crafts, and jewellery route and I get so much enjoyment out of letting my imagination run free. This blog will showcase my work.

My Christmas 2017 Card Designs
Below are 5 designs I've painted for Christmas cards this year. They are all oil on canvas sheet. Each design is on a small scale of 15cm x 20cm approx. My inspiration was local wildlife and local country landscapes. These have all been printed in to greeting cards measuring 4 x 6 inches and come with a plain white envelope and a cellophane cover sleeve for protection. They are for sale on my folksy shop (link to shop is at the top, on the right side of this blog page)

A Tea Party On The Wild Side
Medium: Oils on canvas
Title: A Tea Party On The Wild Side
This piece of art is for a flower show coming up in August. I wanted to keep the topic fun and reflect summer and nature, perfect for a flower show. I went down the more illustrative style with this one. I won first prize last year fingers crossed I retain my title this year.

Decorative Designing on objects
This was initially just a plain cream/ beige box for bits and bobs which had seen better days. I painted and decorated it and it has been given a new lease of life now.

Bee Collection
Medium: Oils on canvas
Title: Bee Witched
This is the first piece from my 'Bee Collection' designs where I am creating a number of pieces of art work in which I play on the letter ' B' or a word beginning with 'be' replacing it with the word ' Bee' and the images will reflect this portraying a bumble bee in different scenarios according to the titles of each work. As I create them I shall pop them on here.

Safari Animals
Medium: Watercolours on watercolour paper
This is a collection of designs I'm working on for greeting cards I'm still in the process of painting the collection. I'll probably have about 10 designs in total when I'm finished. The image of the rhino is still a work in progress but I put it up anyway. Watercolours are not my usual medium but I dabble in it once in a while.

Experimental Work
Here is the first piece in what will be a series of pieces of work focusing on form, line and colour. I'm trying to eliminate as much detail as I can, therefore you are left focusing only on the form, line and colour. Keeping everything simple is key to this series of work My usual style is reliant on as much detail as possible but I'm wanting to free my creativity and be more flexible with how I apply paint and control it. There is still a bit too much detail in the image than I would have liked for eg the buttons but hopefully as I create more I will be able to let go of those restraints. This piece was done as a live sketch as sitter sat using a computer, I then painted it from memory on a later day. Usually having a photo as an aid I felt freer painting this from memory and applying textural paint brush strokes allowed me to paint fast. I've blurred face to eliminate details but not to the point where the sitter isn't identifiable. For me this piece is an impression of the sitter not an exact copy. The black outlining of the image has been used to enhance the lines, form and colour.

Still Life (1)
Title: Still Life (1)
Medium: Oils on Canvas
Size: 30 x 40 inches
A still life that I've been working on for a few years now, on and off, hating it then loving it, but finally got it finished. It's been sitting in my studio looking sorry for itself for a long time. I had contemplated on painting over it as it just didn't seem to be going anywhere, but I picked it up and persevered with it. I surprised myself as towards the end I was enjoying working on this piece so much that I was sad to see it completed. The scale of it was a challenge as well as composition, having solid objects along side transparent & light reflecting ones did test me. This is probably my first ever still life, but it hasn't put me off creating more in the future.
