I am a freelance artist. My contact email is sukhiart@yahoo.com I do commissions and I sell my work on eBay. I'm always creating things which I will share on here. I am primarily a painter, I paint mainly in oils, and as for subject I tend not to restrict myself. I also venture down the decorative arts, crafts, and jewellery route and I get so much enjoyment out of letting my imagination run free. This blog will showcase my work.

The Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern displayed commendable composure, empathy, compassion and unity in the wake of the country's mass killing. Jacinda Ardern became the face of the New Zealanders grief and sorrow. She mourned with the friends and families of the victims showing cultural respect by wearing a black headscarf. She denounced the white nationalist ideology that drove the massacre and stood as a symbol of strength, power, kindness and importantly unity by facing racism.

David Shepherd's 2019 Wildlife Artist Of The Year Online Exhibition
The link below leads to artworks selected for David Shepherds exclusive online exhibition – these are pieces that the judges were unable to fit into the main exhibition but that they felt still represent incredible technique and skill, and therefore this year the foundation have decided to offer this collection for sale, with 50% of each sale supporting their work to fight wildlife crime and protect endangered species across Africa and Asia.
My painting of the Chinese Crocodile Lizard was one of 65 additional pieces selected to be part of the online exhibition this year.

Chinese Crocodile Lizard
Name: Chinese Crocodile Lizard
Medium: Oils on board
Submitted in the- David Shepherd Wildlife Artist Of The Year Competition .
Vanishing fast category. The Chinese crocodile lizard is categorised as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
I was very lucky to have seen one first hand at Bristol Zoo and was enchanted by its beautiful scaly skin and its rather confident little character. The photo below is what I took on the day and was the one I worked from to create a more abstract painting above. I decided to almost camouflage it into its back ground and make it hard to spot like its vanishing into its surroundings done to symbolise and mirror the real life facts that these mesmerising little reptiles are vanishing around us and if nothing is done in regards to conserving them they will completely disappear and become extinct.
I've included extracts from the official IUCN website below to explain the true threats to these lizards.
Threats
This species is threatened by habitat loss and by harvesting, mainly illegal hunting for the international pet trade. Logging at Chinese localities both removes perch sites and suitable ground cover and leads to desiccation of stream habitats. Electro-fishing and poisoning are frequently used to catch fish in southern China, and as a largely aquatic species animals – particularly juveniles – are susceptible to being killed by this practice. Additional pressures exist from agro-forestry, small-scale dam construction and mining activities. Only three of the Chinese localities lie within nature reserves (Huang et al. 2008); while the habitat in these areas is well-protected, illegal hunting still takes place occasionally; outside protected areas the habitat is severely degraded and illegal trade appears to be frequent, with illegal domestic trade in the species being common in cities around the species’ known localities.
In Viet Nam, forest on both sides of Yen Tu Mountain is divided into isolated fragments as a result of road-building and associated tourist infrastructure; while the lizard is found within protected areas in Viet Nam its habitat is at risk from agricultural encroachment (and associated fires), illegal timber logging and water pollution around tourist sites. Localized coal mining occurs close to two streams where the species has been found, and is leading to forest clearance and degradation in the surrounding area.

Reflection- Virginia Woolf
Title: Reflection-Virginia Woolf
Medium: Oils On Canvas
Size: 16 X 20 Inches
Medium: Oils On Canvas
Size: 16 X 20 Inches
Description: This is a double portrait of the talented and pioneering English writer Virginia Woolf (25 January 1982- 28 March 1941) Also a member of the Bloomsbury group and younger sister of Vanessa Bell.
It's been painted in blue to reflect the troubles she had with the bouts of mental illness she endured throughout her life. These days its diagnosed as bipolar disorder but unfortunately there was never a fitting and effective intervention in her life time. In 1941 she sadly wasn't able to carry on any longer and drowned herself in a river at the age of 59.
I've painted her as a young teenager on the left looking into her future and seeing what is yet to come and the much older version on the right reflecting back on her past and seeing what has past her by.

Lord Bath as the Mad Hatter
Title: Any one for tea?
Medium: Oils on canvas
Size: 50 x 40 cm
Below is a portrait I did of Alexander George Thynn, 7th Marquess of Bath as the Mad Hatter. I was inspired after reading a book on his works of art and I felt the Mad Hatter image suited his eccentric character very well. I have gifted the portrait to Lord Bath and he wrote a thank you note back to me which I have included below.
