Lost faces

This is oil on canvas 16 x 20 inches. My idea behind this was how many of us see all sorts of people every day yet we dont actually 'See' people. Yes we can remember what someone may have been wearing, colour/ pattern of clothing, an accessory, or we may remember hair colour but to actually remember peoples faces, their features...well this can sometimes be a difficult task. There are times we dont even care for how someones face looks, we just look right through people. We have all fallen in the lost face catagory one time or another in our lives...most of us fall in that catagory every day. We are a world of lost and invisible faces...unless of course your famous.

My Negative Collection!

These are five paintings from my 'Negative' collection. They are acrylic on canvas and are quite large pieces, each canvas has been backed on to a larger white canvas to create a frame/border (this is not visible on the images above. This collection was inspired by the memories of someone who had lost a loved one and these were the most important places for them where they went and visited during this difficult time. These locations held alot of memories for this person sad and happy ones but I decided to paint these in a photo negative style to portray the feelings of loss and sadness which were the prominent feelings associated with these locations at the time. I felt painting these places in their true pallet would extract the mood and depth that was needed for this body of work.

Shady Mushroom

Above is a surreal painting I finished recently. It's oil on canvas 9 x 12 inches. I was inspired by the beautiful sunny weather that britain thrusts upon us. Well maybe more inspired by the kind of lazy summer days we crave for, going to the beach, lounging around. I felt people were not needed to be present, objects themselves were enough to be the voice for the painting. The mushroom was a twist in the painting, a fungus acting as a shade for whoever may want to retreat from the sun. As funguses grow sporadically why not at a beach? and why not become an item that is not only used for consumption but can also have a practical purpose for daily use. Imagination and a dreamy state of mind is what was needed for this creation, not eveything needs to be what we expect it to be and do what we expect it to do.

Hello all...here's a quick update!

Hey there all, a quick note to say my Folksy shop is back up again...so were back in the game, YAY! I'm currently working on a new portfolio of work...going back to my roots on the surreal front...the body of work is in motion but as each piece is completed it shall be put on here for viewing. It will be surreal paintings which will be done mainly in oils a few may be played around with in acrylic, but we shall see where each one takes me.
I've been kind of confused in what I should be focusing on in terms of themes and genre and style...i get muddled with all thats out there and lose focus and my work becomes scattered and detached. However since i did the mad hatter painting its made everything clear for me. I've always loved surrealism and creating that form of art gives me the most pleasure and freedom for my imagination to go anywhere, therefore I've come to a conclusion that this is the way I want to head as an artist. I'll still be creating personally requested styles for commisions if that is what my clientele wish for but as an independant freelance artist for my own personal exhibitions and sales it will be surreal work i shall be focusing myself on. For this decision I am feeling alot more confident and alot more focused and happy...may this long continue and may my scatter brain stay at bay. All pieces will eventually make there way in to exhibitions or on to my Folksy shop so please keep checking to stay in the loop. Thank you and thats all for now folks...back to it!

The Mad Hatter

Finally I managed to complete my mad hatter painting...taken a few months of on and off painting but I've done it. I love this piece it's been soooooo much fun that I really didn't want it to end but it has and now I'm very happy with the result. I loved being able to use a vibrant and bold pallet, it's one of the main reasons I wanted to paint him in the first place, he's so lively and he makes me smile. It's oil on canvas size 24 inches x 31 inches so quite a large piece... I felt this without a doubt was a statement piece and needed the canvas size to be large to give it the wow factor...it just wouldnt have had the same impact if it was small.

I've been painting away recently this is just one of a couple of paintings I've got going but I must admit the photo quality doesn't do the painting any justice. The actually piece is alot darker than the image below...I think I really need to get a better camera. This is a very small painting compared to the lot larger ones I usually create, this one is 6 x 4.5 inches.

Been Too Long

Its been forever since i was on my blog...my excuse... life getting in the way!but i'll try to keep up if i can! The last blog i wrote i stated that the items below were on Etsy...well theres been a change...they aren't, well not now anyway, i will however be moving those items to my folksy shop soon! My Etsy shop kinda doesnt exist anymore couldn't keep up with it so i'm going to focus completely on my Folksy shop. Will be putting new items in there soon, going to be very busy creating new treasures. Im very excited by the prospect of just sitting down and getting myself engrossed in a new creaton...havn't in a long time because ive just been so exhausted after work...life aint easy at the best of times but im going to try to make a real effort now..i need to focus!

It's been a few days since I wrote but I'm back! Well whats been happening, mmmmm we camped outside last night in our new tent, it was a last min decision but it was fun, took munchies with us, bedding etc listened to all the weird sounds that go on at night...a bit scary! It would have been perfect if there wasn't a pole thats needed for tent to stand upright missing...actually it was the wrong size but we managed to improvise and had that tent up..nothing was going to stop us another snag was I felt so cold out there..but we made it through the night and was woken up by a cockerel and birds...there are alot worse things to be woken by!
I also bought some crafty bits and bobs...little crafty treasures from ebay I've put a pic of it below, it was a blue box full to the brim with all sorts, buttons, charms, chains, bows, ribbons, beads,shells the list is endless and it only cost me wait for it...£2.20!!! yes its true!!! what a bargin!! I love bargins, i have so many ideas and plans for all those babies! I was so chuffed when I recieved it in the post today.
I've created a couple more things but need to take pics of them before i put them up.

Yes all this was for ONLY £2.20!!

I'm no gardner but I grew some pansies a couple of months ago and they are finally starting to flower...it makes me so happy i honestly could blub coz i'de given up on them...but they are ALIVE wohooooo!!! anyway thats all for now folks...keep checking ebay you never know what bargins you may find!

Look at these babies...yes I know its only thread but it was at such a bargin price ... ONLY £3.99 for 20 of those beauties each one 500 meters long...what a buy!!! I got them yesterday from Lidl...great place for the odd bargain buy!! I know I've lost my mind now but WOHOOOOOOO!!!!

I just dont know how I'm going to keep up with all these online networks, shops and forums...my head is starting to fuzz up and I think its actually spun 360 degrees...aaarrrggghh! Goodness me the things we do as artists to promote ourselves its abuse really! Dont get me wrong its great talking to new people etc but its a headache skipping from one thing to another ...keeping up is not easy!...where in the day do you get the time to actually create ???

Just been out in the garden isn't the weather amazing..lovely and warm...but not sunny which is nice...less likely to burn that way! I've been playing Loco Roco on the psp...that game is so addictive and stressful...but I love it! Japanese games are so cool, silly but fun. I took a picture of Jeejee my beautiful cat as he sat outside licking himself rotten and as I held my camera up he looked straight at me with pure evil in his eyes lol ...love that little devil! heres the pic of him:

I also managed to take a pic of my brooches that I mentioned yesterday...dont know what shop they are going up on yet!

Finally getting a chance to write something on here! I've completed a brooch I was making and I've decided to put it on which ever new shop I open next (not decided which one yet) but I've also started a cup cake brooch its in the very early stages of its development but once that baby is produced I'm going to put it up for adoption on my new shop too! I'll inform you of my shop decision once I've made one! My plan is to make at least 5 items before I open new shop..no point in having one when theres nothing to put in it!
I know its a day late but OH MY GOD I CANT BELIEVE MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD!!! It doesnt seem real to me...R.I.P MJ!It's very sad!
I've seen a few buttons on ebay that I really really want to buy but people keep bidding on them and its getting to a price that I cant afford and am not willing to pay..darn it those buttons are so amazingly yummy and wow..I dont know what I'm going to do..temptation not a good thing!

I havn't got much to say because I haven't actually created anything today...I'll have to sort that out tonight...got to make at least one thing a day! I get heyfever every summer and its really been playing up today what would I do without piriton...I would die i think! What made it worse was I finally got around to vaccuming the house(not a fun task at all)and it was so dusty that it all just went up my nose and I had a sneezing fit! I discovered a lovely presant left out on the grass in my garden from my beautiful caring and sharing cat JeeJee...it was a dead bird! I cant bare picking it up...makes me so sad and its yukkie!Going to get someone else to do it hehehe!
I'm feeling chuffed again as I sold another item on ebay...some purple studds/earrings! YAY!still not happy with ebay though...its funny I could hardly sell anything when I had my shop on their and now that I haven't I've managed to sell a good few items...how strange!

I finally managed to take photos of my wee lil strawberry brooch and I luckly finished making my Bee brooch at the same time so I've put them both on to Folksy! Phew glad thats done! I've added some pics below...I'm soooooo pleased with the way the Bee turned out...yes I'm very proud of it!Got some lovely feed back on them...people can be so nice...especially on Folksy!
I was so chuffed when I checked my E-bay this morning and found that someone had bid on my little red guitar studds/earrings.. YAY! I had the Disney necklace (handmade by me) posted today so fingers crossed it gets their safe and I get another positive feedback! I'm currently trying to think of the next item I'm going to make and put on Folksy...I want to reach 30 items in my shop on their before I start making a new batch of stuff for either Etsy or Misi or Coriandr...I can't make up my mind where else to next set up shop!Don't know which would be best...if anyone has any advice on which is better plz let me know...I'll ask Folksy sellers too!

Criminals, sales, and a strawberry!

I was so busy yesterday that I didn't get a chance to update on here, anyway its catchup time...I spent 8 hours of my life yesterday going through CCTV footage to catch out thieves...not just any random tom, dick or harry nooooo but actual staff members..long story but anyway I found nothing incriminating...but thats 8 hours of my life that i'll never get back...oh well at least I was getting paid for not really doing much YAY! I had square eyes at the end of it though! :) Also I had such a lovely suprise when I got home I logged on to Ebay (havn't got a shop on there anymore just selling odd bits now..lot cheaper) and I discovered that I had sold a necklace that I had made...I was and still am very pleased!:) I've put a pic up below of what I sold! I'm still feeling tierd I had to get up at 4.30 yesterday morning and I'm still not quite over it I think. I've got a few domestic things to sort out and get out of the way today before I can actually sit down and do what I really want to do! I hate when things get in the way of creativity...but thats life!
I made a wee lil strawberry brooch a couple days ago...still have to take a pic of it, when I do I'll put it on here for you to see, then its going straight on to Folksy for sale! I've just put up a few new earrings up on Folksy today...I like to keep it fresh on their... need my first sale on their yet...look forward to it!hurry up!!! hehehhe

I Made these beautiful earrings and I've put them on sale on Folksy, its a lovely unique design... again once I had made them I didnt want to part with them...but I did, wish I could make the same design again for myself but everything I make is a one off, I wouldn't replicate anything...I couldnt with these as I dont have the same material and beads left!

Hey everyone just letting everyone know Im closing down my ebay shop it comes down to one reason and one reason only they rip you off, way too expensive to keep my shop going I cant afford their stupidly high fees! But theres a good side to this because I'm taking my crafts to Etsy! I already have a shop on Folksy (which rocks) but my fellow crafters reccomend Etsy too so that is the way forward, I will save so much money now and have a wider audience! I will be transferring my ebay goods to my Folksy shop soon (the ones i actually handmade that is)! I gave ebay a go so I can at least say i've done that but it wasn't for me! x

I've got my new glasses today YAY!! I had my old ones for like 6 years so they were falling apart and I was fed up of them, I needed a new fresh pair and I finally got them today I'm wearing them now with pride :) Thanks to Shaz Oddsox and other members of FOLKSY for helping me and providing me with the Folksy logo/badge link it looks great on here now so YAY!! I'm feeling happy today, I can not wait to start on my next brooch/corsage/bag deco design , im thinking BUMBLE BEE and STRAWBERRY! I said to myself yesterday that I would take sunday off as my day off as I've been working real hard all week on my online shops but I just couldn't help myself and in a matter of minutes from waking up I was crafting away and this is what I made yesterday. It's a pretty butterfly brooch/corsage /bag deco, im very pleased with it and Im going to put it up for sale on my Folksy shop in a min. I adore butterflies I have little home deco butteflies all around my house.

I'm getting extremely attached to buttons and ribbons and it isnt healthy, I see them and I want them but I dont want to use them because they are too pretty or look too yummy!crazy! but the weird thing is I love making things with them, so I have to part with them. How I managed to part with these two lovely bracelets I dont know!(both are on Folksy)When I make things and they come out looking good I dont want to part with them... I want them...I'm not well, I know!

I also designed this cute little apron, its also up for sale on Folksy! It took me ages to stitch up that flower design and the flower hem, I dont have a sewing machine so I hand stitch everything! But it was worth it because it came out looking adorable! I'm mainly an artist I paint but I've started to really get interested in creating crafts and jewellery. I've been creating jewellery for a good few years now but this whole textile crafts and the need to make something from fabric came on a few months ago and I cant stop now Im becoming addicted to fabrics, buttons, lace, ribbon, anything you can think of and I start salivating over it ...WHATS HAPPENING TO ME???....

Here's another keyring I've made. I've created this from 3 different coloured yarn, lots of different coloured beads and sequins. The design is just plain creative chaos which makes it unique, I love the bold and bright colours they cheer me up. Madness I say complete utter madness

Sea shell Keyring!

Okie dokie heres a lovely key ring I made too I created this from an assortment of beads and an oyster/sea shell from St Austell beach Cornwall. The design has a nautical feel and is based on the colours of the seaside.The round silver bead at the top represents the sun, and the colour yellow in the design also reflects this whilest the oranges and whites represent the beach and the blue as well as the shell reflects the water. I'm mad but who cares it works for me and the design!:)

Well, well its been sometime again since i last blogged! Cant even begin to imagine whats happened since i last wrote! I'm doing alot more creative things got lots of projects in the pipe line! Im going through a phase where im really enjoying things more. Ive made a few bits of jewellery which has caught the interest of my sister and she wants to purchase yippeeeee! The more i make things the more i feel confident!
My plants are starting to grow well, my herbs grew pretty fast, well the corriander has the mint and the other thing (cant spell it) arent anywhere to be seen! I can see my peppers starting to develop too, makes me very happy seeing that! Its such a miserable day today. Tomorrow is supposed to be better but we will have to wait and see, im working till 2ish so at least i get most of the afternoon to enjoy the sun and sit in my garden! i just love growing things im feeling very green fingered, i could do it for a living...i think :) Oh i must get lavender plant from lidle tomorrow, there going cheap and ive wanted one for ages! could do so much with it! Anyway i got to get my plants watered dont want them dying on me!!

Well this is a first for me, I finally managed to get my own blog space! this is so cool! I don't know what made me do it, it was totally random! Sometimes things happen and you dont know why you did them but there's probably a reason for it which may become clear later on down the line. However I'm on here and I'm celebrating by cracking open a bottle of pepsi !:)
